"I had an amazing time at the Salt Sisterhood retreat in Portugal! The accommodation was really high end, just beautiful. The food was incredible and plentiful, and my food allergy was dealt with really professionally, I felt very confident that I was taken care of. The yoga was wonderful, I really enjoyed the classes. And finally I was so appreciative of the two life guards during the swimming sessions. I'm not a strong swimmer, but enjoyed the swims very much. The coastline and beaches we went to swim were carefully chosen, stunning and the schedule of activity vs rest was perfect. Thank you!" • About Us | The Salt Sisterhood

Our Story “On some level, I’ve always known the water makes me feel better…” When Salt Sisterhood founder Lauren realised that she felt the same sense of calm after being in the sea mirrored in her yoga practice, an idea began to form. She wanted to create a space that brought women together, allowing them to feel the healing benefits of both activities in combination. Within a supportive community, Lauren dreamt of teaching others the tools she used in her own life to combat anxiety, reconnect with herself and find happiness. Lauren’s dream became a reality when she founded The Salt Sisterhood in 2018. The retreats are focused on a central theme of connection which is interwoven throughout the experience. The meaning of the word Yoga is 'to unite' or 'to bring together', essentially - it is all about connecting. Connecting with nature, with one another and ultimately with oneself. The Salt Sisterhood allows women to delve into wild swimming, practice yoga, mindfulness, meditation and eat healthy, organic food. Lauren’s aim is to enable you to come home to yourself in a welcoming, inclusive space. An Interview with Our Founder Founder Lauren has a moving story to tell about the power of swimming and its ability to bring people together and forge female friendships. In this episode, Freya Bromley speaks with Lauren about the retreats she runs along with partner Patrick, banishing negative self talk, how we can not just accept that there’s light and dark in life, but also lean into it. And how yoga and swimming can help with that. LISTEN NOW What's in a name? Read more about the story behind our name from our founder Lauren READ THE JOURNAL Our Ethos Created on the foundation of connection, The Salt Sisterhood embodies this idea through each aspect of the business. Through exploring our connection with nature we encourage women to experience the benefits of cold water swimming and being outdoors. We also strive to champion sustainability within our supplier relationships, and always consider the effect of The Salt Sisterhood on others and the environment. The food served on our retreats is organic and locally sourced where possible, and our swimwear line is handmade in the UK using environmentally friendly materials. We feel a strong connection with Mother Nature, and therefore we are constantly working to protect her. Read more about our sustainability policies here: SUSTAINABILITY

  • Yoga & Wild Swimming Retreats For Women | The Salt Sisterhood | Cornwall

FAQ Below you'll find the most commonly asked questions about our retreat, we have collected all these questions together to help you get a better idea of what to expect at our retreat and if it's right for you! If your question isn't listed below, please get in touch and we'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. CAN I COME TO THE RETREAT BY MYSELF? Yes! The vast majority of our guests arrive at the retreat as solo travellers and leave with a whole new group of swimming buddies. Many of our past guests have stayed in touch and organised their own swim trips together. So we would not only say yes that you can come alone, but that we would actually encourage you to! We aim to make our retreat as warm and welcoming as possible - just ask any of our past guests! WHAT LEVEL OF FITNESS DO I NEED TO HAVE TO ATTEND THE RETREAT? Although we encourage our guests to retreat the way they want to and skip any activity that doesn't suit them, we do recommend that you have a good level of physical fitness at the time you visit us so that you can enjoy and get the most out of all our planned activities. Some examples of what we will be doing include: a 40 minute moderately paced walk on woodland tracks; an hour long Vinyasa Flow Yoga class designed to challenge you but build strength and flexibility; a rock jumping swim session where we will climb down some rocks and jump from around 1 to 2 metres of height into the sea! Our guests can choose to skip any activity during our week, but to enjoy your time with us to the fullest you will need to be physically fit enough for the activities listed above. DO YOU CATER TO DIETARY REQUIREMENTS AND ALLERGIES? Yes! We will ask each guest at the time of booking if they have any dietary requirements or allergies at all and our experienced and talented chefs will be happy to accomodate them. CAN I BRING MY STAND-UP PADDLEBOARD, KAYAK OR OTHER CRAFT TO THE RETREAT? Unfortunately we cannot allow guests to bring their own watersports equipment to the retreat as we have not risk assessed these activities, and our qualified lifeguard can only provide water cover for swimmers at this time. ARE YOUR RETREATS INCLUSIVE TO TRANS WOMEN? Yes, absolutely! If you have any questions you'd like to ask us please get in touch.
